20th Anniversary Open House and Cow Bingo
Moo-chas gracias to everyone who was involved in the 20th Anniversary Open House and Cow Bingo event. We made $31,444.49 from Cow Bingo sales and Open House revenue including sponsors, vendors, raffle, and donations. We missed our $35,000 fundraising goal but we stayed well under budget on expenses.
Over 300 of our steadfast supporters braved the rainy weather and came out to support us. To commemorate our twentieth anniversary we took a group photo of the crowd. The brave photographer Joan Wheeler and the cherry picker operator Andy White went up 30 feet to take the group photo. Between rain drops Joan Wheeler accomplished her task and took several photos of the group assembled. These photos can be viewed and purchased from Joan Wheeler photography, please visit http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/thumbpage.aspx?e=5315801.
Cricket the cow was back by popular demand for the main event – Cow Bingo. She made herself available to her public prior to the event in her petting area. When it was time she was ready to “go”. This must have been the Cow Bingo record for fastest “cow-pie”. No sooner did she make her way into the middle of the ring than she fertilized the winning square.
The lucky winner of the 2009 Cow Bingo raffle was Luise Iannaco. Jeffrey Hill and “Amis”, a CPL full-service team, sold the winning ticket. Both Luise and Jeffrey live at Warren House in Woburn MA , a supported residence for fifteen folks who have experienced traumatic brain injuries. Luise and her sister hosted a dinner party for the house to celebrate her good fortune.
There were plenty of other activities throughout the afternoon including a service dog demonstration, tours of the office and kennel, hay rides, carriage rides and of course the puppy kissing booth. Anyone who visited the puppy kissing booth walked away much muddier than they were beforehand. The puppies didn’t seem to mind the mud though.
Everyone was serenaded by the Bovelax while they enjoyed the barbeque lunch and the dessert too. Our vendors were a little bit soggy but in good spirits. We would like to thank Purrs and Pants, JEVS Supports for Independence , Pet Valu, Julia’s Jewels, Homemade Gourmet and Fit Fir a Dog for being a part of our Open House. This event would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors National Penn Bank and Concord Pet Foods and Supplies.
We are udderly grateful to all those who sold cow bingo tickets this year. We could not have had a successful Open House and Cow Bingo without you.
